Growing
community through
neighborhood-based,
sustainable growing
Our 15th Day Celebration is a monthly get-together for connection, celebration, education and support. Come meet others interested in creating a more sustainable Louisville. Share thoughts, ideas, experiences about growing our own food and how to support sustainable community efforts and meet others making a difference. And have some fun while we do it! Everyone is welcome - whether you are growing your own food or not! Our 15th Day Celebration is sponsored by Heine Brothers’ Coffee. Heine Brothers’ will provide beverages. This month, our movie will take the whole time so we won't have food. We will have popcorn and something to drink.
September 15th Day Celebration
Thursday, September 15th, from 6 to 8 pm
15Thousand Farmers Growing Center
at Dismas St. Ann's
1515 Algonquin Pkwy., Louisville, Ky.
Get inspired on Thursday, September 15th at the 15Thousand Farmers 15th Day Celebration at our Growing Center at Dismas' St. Ann's campus, 1515 Algonquin Parkway. The celebration will feature a screening of the award winning documentary "YERT (Your Environmental Road Trip)" by Louisvillians Ben Evans and Julie Dingman Evans and their friend Mark Dixon. Ben will be available for questions after the screening. In the film, Ben, Julie and Mark travel throughout United States seeking good ideas. Along the way, the three friends find innovative people changing the world one step at a time, and naturally, that means 15Thousand Farmers will be on the big screen!
The film's website says it best, "50 States. 1 Year. Zero Garbage? Called to action by a planet in peril, three friends hit the road - packing hope, humor. . .and all of their trash - searching for innovators and citizens solving humanity's greatest environmental crises. Piling on personal challenges as they explore every state in a year (the good, the bad, and the weird), an unexpected turn of events pushes the team to the brink in this award-winning docu-comedy. Featuring Bill McKibben, Wes Jackson, Will Allen, Janine Benyus, Joel Salatin, David Orr, and others."
Since the film will take most of the time of the celebration, we won't have a potluck. But we'll provide popcorn and some beverages from Heine Brothers' Coffee.
